heralding from brighton, married (production) couple sam and tracy presented classic with some music classic was very familiar with. not only is sam a member of the legendary gramme, but has also featured on a number of past luke solomon originals for classic…so are already part of the extended family. classic immediately warmed to the music and the music already felt at home. looking for the right remixer begun - classic played the tracks to long-time member of crazy p - a certain mr basejam and immediately leapt to them and remixed not one – but both of the records on the ep as he loved them both so much. the result is a meeting of minds sounds and words.

berlin-based palms trax continues adding to his run of quality efforts with the forthcoming release of his high point on low ground ep: impressive effort number two for the dekmantel imprint. serving up three retro-futuristic killers, donaldson parades his ability to touch on the many different corners of contemporary house music, whilst delivering heavyweight dancefloor standards. the title track blazes a beaten-up vocal snippet over stanked-out synths, stretched to a breaking point across a low-riding bass line. a stabbing moroder-esque bass line dominates cloud city , whilst paws equals pure and raw broken-beat bliss with a pinch of acid.

for the 7th release on love on the rocks, we welcome the mexican duo zombies in miami for a three track ep titled snake language. the title track is a raw an haunting drum heavy number. on the flip comes calo with its twisting riffs that wind and turn alongside percussive interludes. yamo changes the pace but is no less impressive with climactic flutes and a driving bass line. with this ep, the zombies in miami are literally on fire!

having made his family life a priority for the last three years, picotto was nonetheless busy in the studio, adding to his beyond-extensive catalogue of releases and preparing us for a new salvo of pumping techno, jacking tech-house and quintessential club material. from heart to techno, picotto s ninth studio album features a number of collaborations with regular partners in crime riccardo ferri and devid, who both throw in extra measures of italian flair to the mix.

the lead track of the ep delirium, takes influence from a number of sonic avenues providing a considered cut of dub-techno inspired house. the pairs ability to handle percussion and carefully manipulate samples results in a sophisticated swung drumbeat sitting neatly over an addictive dubbed out stab and mysterious vocal sample.

the last few years has seen parris make a name for himself across a number of scenes, to the extent he is just as likely to be found spinning records for butterz as he is putting records out on berceuse heroique. here at idle hands we first touched base with parris many moons ago when he bought copies of the first release on his soundman chronicles label into our shop. as it is one of our favourite labels we were intrigued to hear what he would come up with as producer himself. needless to say we were impressed. presented here are two tracks that perfectly reflect his sound and our own a nod to techno here, a weighty bass line there, a love of reverb everywhere and all with a view to being played in dark rooms late at night. the 12 inch of burr and blue is idle hands last release of 2015 and we think it rounds off nicely what has been a great year for the label.

nathan melja is the same young frenchman whose debut ep we released under the name melja late last year. since then, he moved to new york and worked at mister hq for a few months, manned the light booth at the mister saturday night and mister sunday parties (djs make the best light guys), and spent most of his time outside that making music. leo draws is the culmination of that music-making, two murky but beautiful tracks centered around vocal samples and one off-kilter number aimed at the dark corners of the dancefloor.

moving into the latter stage of 2015, drumcode are keeping up the refined techno that they have displayed and are making sure that they continue to keep up this form throughout heading into 2016. steve rachmad is a name familiar to everyone within the electronic music scene. he has been a big part of the scene for over two decades and boasts a whole host of records and shows.
he has been remixed by the likes of ricardo villalobos, joris voorn and more. rachmad is now hosting his own studio 80 based club night kis where he plays mesmerising extended sets. steve rachmad is welcomed to the vinyl-only offshoot drumcode limited. disturbance is a punchy little number that has a stuttering synth that rises over the top of the pounding kick drum. steps takes it up a notch with a simplistic bleep pattern that modulates throughout that is awash with a throbbing undercurrent.

following up the fantastic summer re-release of upsetting keys “empathy” ep, path records follows with its first new catalogue number since 2006. path 008 marks the return of artist fate 258, whose 1999 “why 2k” path 001 ep has been a hotly sought after item on discogs. the three-track ep contains two exciting new mixes of cult classic techno track “the path”. the a-side version “path to hell” is the harder of the pair, a dark edgy journey into the unknown with shuffling 808 rhythms providing much of the melody. “path to heaven” slows the groove down and adds warm juno pads throughout the mix for a very deep detroit flavored techno style. on the final track “heaven or hell” sort of a broken beat downtempo piece, sparse vocals and bladerunner samples mix to complete the dystopian concept. these mixes of “the path” are considered pre-mixes, as they were completed in 1998 before the original release of path 001. fate 258 is a project from brooklyn producer reade truth, known for his work over the last decades on labels such as planet e, sonic groove, n-syde, wurst and strictly rhythm to name a few. limited to 250 worldwide, with the first 100 including full black and white cover art.

two and a half minutes of drums rolling under a whirlwind of cranky guitars and vocals arguing from the bottom of a 1990’s boom box, that’s 51 black super. 11 tracks and 30 minutes to cross the usa, from california with pavement and weezer to ohio with guided by voices and the raspberries. 51 black super isnt a band to get lost on its way, or in futilities. written, composed, recorded in an emergency, with short and intense sessions, the debut album by 51 black super is made in the image of its creators: spontaneous and eager to get things out there. sounds like the strokes with less cocaine and more facial hair, said a californian rock critic after listening the two first few tracks.

field records continues to focus on its first run of solo artists eps with four tracks from uk pair szare. before now this frozen border and horizontal ground duo has excelled in crafting cavernous bass chambers and off beat rhythms with ease - just as they do here. riding up and down, skipping left and right and swelling with a sense of post apocalyptic optimism as it goes. this ep is full of fresh ideas, fulsome production and a dark energy that makes it fit perfectly on the most recent end of the hardcore continuum.
